The Day of the Dead is a joyful Latin American holiday which celebrates the dead and its return to the living on that special day. In Mexico this tradition led to the development of the “Catrinas.” These skeleton women stem back to pre-Columbian times. In the 20th century Catrinas were used to make fun of the high-society in Mexico.

Remus took this idea and created life-size paintings of women of all classes and professions. By displaying their hobbies and preferences through their costumes and styles, Remus created a unique style in the spirit of the “Dia de Muertos”

This series was started in 2014. Remus continues to work on this series.
